Gaby and I recently went on a field trip organized by VCS Homeschool, where Gaby's enrolled in. I put off blogging about it maybe because we're still reeling from the LONG day of travelling around the metro. Our schedule form said it would span from 7am-7pm but thankfully we were able to finish early.
Gaby had so much fun with her friends! Our bus was full to the brim with happy kids and chatty moms, swapping stories and food during the ride. Here are the highlights of our destinations:
1.
Philippine Air Force Museum -- Our second time in this museum, Gaby and I quickly browsed through the Air Force uniforms and dioramas, and headed to the Airplane Park which features old plane models and helicopters. Located at Pasay City near NAIA Terminal 3, the entrance fee is free!

Philippine Science Centrum -- located at Marikina City, this museum is a treasure trove of activities both fun and educational for kids and adults to play with! Science principles are taught in a hands-on way, which makes learning so much more fun. Personally, I enjoyed this visit the most. Entrance fee is P100.
3. Marikina Shoe Factory -- the City of Marikina is known as the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, and even houses the Guiness Book of World Records' Largest Pair of Shoes in the World. So a trip to a shoe factory was in order. I have to admit, the kids were mildly interested in the shop due to the hot and humid setting, but the moms made a beeline for the shoes on sale. I think we ladies would've preferred a trip to the Shoe Museum, where we can oogle at Imelda Marcos' 800 pairs of shoes. Just sayin' ☺
4. Meralco Museum -- The electric company's museum is located in its main building at Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The admission is free, though I would surmise you'll need to contact someone from Meralco to gain access to the facilities. Fully airconditioned and featuring loads of electrical marvels both old and new, the trip was a great way to experience history and science at the same time. I enjoyed learning about the five different ways we get energy though the hands-on simulation, but Gaby and the rest of the kids liked the trolley and vintage car the most.

Nido Science Discovery Center -- the highlight of our trip brought us all the way to SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. There were loads to see, and it would take you half a day to fully experience the numerous interactive features in the two-storey hall. The most interesting set was Grossology, a unique and gross way of learning about our body. But, hands down, the main attraction was the Digistar Planetarium, a 15 meter dome with theater seats which transports you to outer space through 3D animation. Entrance fee is P330.
